Essential Interviewing Skills will help you gain the specialist knowledge and practical skills to prepare for -  and undertake - different types of interviews. The interactive role-plays and group discussions will help you use sound interviewing techniques to gather accurate information from any interview.  The key focus of this course is on recruitment interviews however the course extends to cover disciplinary interviewing as well as touching on exit interviews, getting the best out of appraisal meetings and support-type discussions with employees.

Course Tutors

Mrs Victoria Whitworth

Vicky is a generalist HR professional - and chartered fellow of the CIPD - with over twenty year’s experience working across the private, public and non-for-profit sectors. She started her career in central government before moving on to ethical high street retailer The Body Shop where she set up a performance management programme, introduced HR policies and implemented a pay and grading scheme. More recently Vicky has worked as an HR consultant with a variety of organisations from dental practices, charities and large retailers providing support around restructuring, training and policy development. Vicky is currently HR Director at the national charity Action on Addiction. Vicky is a qualified psychometric test user and specialises in recruitment, interviewing and performance management. She has a pragmatic outlook to HR practice and an enthusiasm for helping HR professionals learn and develop.

Mrs Philippa Webster

Philippa has a wealth of HR experience and her skills and knowledge cover a wide-range of HR areas including dealing with grievance and disciplinary issues for clients, whilst running training programmes, not only for the CIPD, but bespoke offerings to private clients. She also works as a ‘hands-on’ HR professional working with organisations, large and small in areas such as measuring the ROI on the HR function - such as training - as well as reviewing and writing policies and procedures. She works all over the UK and in Europe and has worked for private organisation, public organisations and European bodies. She is a published author.
