The practical, one-day How to Prepare for an Employment Tribunal course uses case studies and examples to examine each stage of an employment tribunal claim, from receipt of the application to the hearing. It also includes the latest changes to tribunal rules, and will help you identify which cases to defend and which to settle, as well as build confidence to represent your own organisation or be an effective witness. A mock tribunal case study forms a key part of the course to illustrate how the law works in practice.

Course Tutors

Ms Judith Hogarth

Judith has been working as a trainer, facilitator and coach for more than 10 years having previously built her experience working as an employment solicitor. Judith has worked in both the corporate and the public sector. Her specialist fields are mediation, conflict resolution, employee relations, independent investigations, coaching skills and wellbeing. 

Ms Elaine Heslop

Elaine Heslop is an experienced employment law practitioner. She has worked as a solicitor conducting employment law litigation for over twenty years and was also legal director of Islington Law Centre. She is currently employed part-time as a solicitor and senior lecturer at Kent Law Clinic within the University of Kent. She has experience of lecturing and training to a wide range of audiences, including practising lawyers, law graduates and undergraduates and HR practitioners. She lectures on the CIPD PGCEL course and is a PGCEL personal tutor. She is published by The Law Society in employment tribunal procedures and employment discrimination law, and by The Legal Action Group in legal advice skills.

Mrs Kate Shepherd

Kate Shepherd is a charismatic employment lawyer who delivers both training and consultancy. She trains and advises a diverse set of employers from small and medium sized enterprises to charities, PLCs and international companies, as well as taking board level director roles for clients. Prior to establishing her consultancy, Kate Shepherd Associates in 2005, Kate qualified as a solicitor, and practised employment law at a senior level with a leading firm in the Midlands.

Kate is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association, CIPD qualified, an Institute of Business advisor and mentor and also an East Midlands “Business Champion”.
